BLENCATHRA BARN
This unique barn has been fully renovated and has the most stunning views over Blencathra, also known as Saddleback.
Blencathra Barn can sleep four and boasts an expansive open-plan first-floor living area, private parking and retains many beautiful features. The lounge and private terrace have magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and provide a prime position for watching the sunset over the Lake District fells or the sunrise over the Pennines.
The master bedroom and smaller double bedroom share a bathroom, with luxury Egyptian bed linen and fluffy towels.
Upon arrival you will receive a Welcome Pack with some local goodies. We can also provide a travel cot, baby bath and highchair.
Smoking is not allowed in the Barn. Dogs are not allowed, sorry. The property is wi-fi enabled throughout, has automated underfloor heating and electric blinds. In addition, there is a utility room with washer and tumble dryer.
FACILITIES
Ground floor
Entrance hall and cloak room with exposed stone walls, natural stone flags and original features, leading to the staircase, a WC, the bedrooms and bathroom.
On the ground floor is the large master bedroom with super-king-size bed, 56” Smart TV, comfy seating, dressing areas and heaps of natural light.
The decor in the bedroom is to a high standard with goose-down duvet and linen sheets to add to your comfort.
Adjoining the master bedroom is a cosy double bedroom which has shared access to the bathroom. Ideally suited for a family, but not ideal if staying as friends. The bathroom has a bath as well as a large walk-in shower.
First floor
A u-shaped stone and oak staircase leads to the expansive upper floor with striking vaulted beam ceiling, glass walls on two sides and one entire wall wrapped with a panoramic lake and mountain scape.
There is a 65” Smart TV and stylish L-shaped sofa in the lounge area. Guests may dine on a six-seater oak table and outside catering can be arranged if required. A bar area with high stools and drinks fridge makes hosting easy.
Adjoining the lounge is a huge external decked terrace with a west- and north-facing aspect.
There is a modern kitchen, with integrated appliances including dishwasher, microwave, induction hob and oven. There is a separate pantry with storage, American fridge, ice maker and freezer.
From the kitchen you can admire the views across Sceugh Dyke Estate over to the Pennines where the morning sun rises.
The open plan upstairs is flooded with natural light and is an ideal place to take in the wonderful views as well as the stars at night.
A lovely feature of the room are the floor and ceiling which are composed of home-grown oak boards and beams.
Outdoor
Parking is conveniently located right outside the Barn. A large terrace adjoins the upstairs living area and has furniture for you to relax and take in the sights and sounds of the countryside.
The Barn is in the farmyard and close to the self-catering Penthouse apartment as well as the owner’s residences, however it is entirely private, and it is no longer a working farm. The Barn accessed by a private driveway and is surrounded by paddocks and footpaths waiting to be explored.
Just a mile away is the village of Calthwaite and the local pub.
